Hi, I’m Ayaan! I’m an Assistant Professor in the CSSE Department at Cal Poly. My research and teaching interests include computing education, software engineering, and software testing.
See more about my work on my teaching and projects pages, or see my list of publications. I also supervise master’s theses.
Additionally, I am the advisor for a couple of student organisations at Cal Poly.
- Hack4Impact, where students work to address the software needs of local non-profit organisations. They recently won a community service award because they are great.
- The CSSE student tutoring centre, where students run (mostly-)all-day tutoring for introductory CSC courses. If you’re interested in becoming a tutor, please see the Want to be a tutor? section and get in touch.
About me
I obtained my PhD in Computer Science at Virginia Tech in 2020, under the joint advisement of Cliff Shaffer and Steve Edwards. Before that I obtained a BS in Computer Science at the University of West Georgia in 2015.
I’m originally from Mumbai, India.
I like playing and listening to folk music, reading fiction (sci-fi, fantasy, historical fiction) and non-fiction (history, anthropology, and the occasional biography). I also like hiking and cycling and a good TV binge.
